Atletico Madrid- New Giant of La-Liga

Diego Costa (left) and Jordi Alba - Atletico Madrid v Barcelona: live

Atletico Madrid 0-0 Barcelona

WRAP excellent game of football in the Spanish capital, if only for the emotion of it. Raucous Atletico crowds witnessed their side go toe-to-toe and seize the initiative from Barca, before relinquishing it, seizing it, relinquishing it and seizing it. The game did not have many clear cut chances - Diego Costa went closest for Atletico, while Messi's late drive was Barcelona's best chance - but it had some fine technical football and two teams who did not stop running.

The result leaves Atletico and Barcelona still tied at the top on 50 points. Real will go just three points behind the pair with a win at Espanyol. This La Liga title race could be the best in years.
